Time for a change
Although we gained an extra hour of sleep with the recent time change, this is one of the most difficult adjustments for me to make every single year. The thoughts of going to work when it is dark and returning home in darkness seem to set me into a bit of a tailspin. It is funny how a little change such as this can leave you seeing the glass half empty rather than half full.
Fortunately for me, I had the opportunity to conduct an interview with regards to the holidays and spending practices of Canadians. It was during this interview that I was forced to think about the season of Christmas and how each of us can make a difference in the lives of others. Upon reflection, I started to think about how my life has been blessed. If I were to begin to write all of the things that I am thankful for this blog could not hold the list that I would compile. More importantly, I am certain that no one wants to read a brag list that is both personal and self-serving.
Changing your perspective can be as easy as taking the time to look at others and appreciate all that we have. The mere presence of a loved one is far more important than any material goods that you can accumulate. Spending time with others and listening to their story can be a gift that should not be reserved for just the holiday season. How many friends or family members have we lost touch with and who amongst us could use a little reassurance as we enter the season of stress? Maybe each of us can be a positive time change in other peoples lives. I guess we will never know if we don’t try!
